The Transcript on the Timeline
Once a file is transcribed, you can read its transcript as a row of pills right on the timeline, select words, and trim clips to word boundaries.
Show the transcript row
- Right-click the header of an audio track.
- Click Show Transcript Track.
A transcript row appears just above the audio track, with a header labelled to match: T1 for track A1, T2 for A2, and so on. Only audio tracks can carry a transcript row. To hide the row again, right-click the same header, or the row's own header, and click Hide Transcript Track. The row's visibility is saved with the project.
Read sentences and words
The row shows one pill per sentence, labelled with the sentence text. Click a sentence pill and it expands into one pill per word. Pills sit at their spot in time, so they scroll and zoom with the rest of the timeline.
A small amber ! badge on a pill means that sentence has a word waiting for review. See Fix Transcript Mistakes.
Select words
Clicking a pill selects it. It does not move the playhead. Click a sentence pill to select the sentence, or a word pill to select that word. Shift+click adds more words to the selection, and dragging through empty space inside the row selects a whole run of words at once. Selected words highlight in red.
Trim a clip to a word
Drag the left or right edge of a word or sentence pill. The clip under it trims to that word boundary, so you can make a clip start or end exactly where a word does. It behaves like any other trim: snapping applies, Ctrl+Z undoes it, and locked tracks refuse it. For trimming in general, see Moving and Trimming.
To correct a word, use the Review tab. There is no way to retype a word from the timeline itself. See Fix Transcript Mistakes.
