Use this page as a quick reference for Solar Sailer's editor shortcuts.
Most shortcuts work anywhere in the editor while a project is open. Solar Sailer leaves them alone while you're typing in a text field or using a menu or dialog. The sections below call out shortcuts that need a specific panel or tool.
Control playback

| L | Play forward. Press again while playing to double the speed up to 8× |

Edit the timeline
| Shortcut | What it does |

| Delete / Backspace | Delete the selected clips and leave a gap |
| Shift+Delete / Shift+Backspace | Delete the selected clips and close the gap |
| Ctrl+B | Split selected clips crossed by the playhead. Skips splits blocked by locked tracks |
| Ctrl+X | Cut the selected clips |
| Ctrl+C | Copy the selected clips |
| Ctrl+V | Paste at the playhead |
| Ctrl+A | Select all clips. Selects media items instead while the Media panel has focus |
| Esc | Deselect everything. During a timeline drag or trim, cancel the change |
| Ctrl+Z | Undo |
| Ctrl+Shift+Z | Redo |
| Shift+Z | Fit the whole sequence in the timeline |
| - / = or + | Zoom out / in around the visible playhead, or the center of the view when the playhead is offscreen |
Resize panels

This works over the Media, Preview, Properties, Agent, and timeline panels. After maximizing a panel, press the key from anywhere to restore the layout.

Work with markers and In/Out points

Save and open projects

Review retakes in the Retake Review panel
These shortcuts work while focus is inside the Retake Review panel. Navigation and take shortcuts also need an open retake group.

| Esc | Close the panel |
Enter and Space keep their normal behavior when a button has focus. Arrow keys stay with a focused dropdown.
This shortcut works only while the Media panel has focus.

Use keys with the mouse

| Shift+click with the Track select tool | Select clips backward from the clicked point across unlocked tracks |
| Shift+drag or Ctrl+drag a selection box | Add clips to the current selection |
| Shift+drag a clip | Move the clip between tracks without changing its time. You can press or release Shift during the drag |
| Alt+drag a clip | Slip the clip without moving it |
| Shift+click with the Razor tool | Cut every clip at that point across unlocked tracks |
| Shift+click or Ctrl+click a transcript word | Add or remove the word from the transcript selection |
| Esc during a drag | Cancel the drag without applying the change |
| Ctrl+click a media item | Add or remove the item from the Media panel selection |
| Shift+click a media item | Select a range of visible media items |
| Alt+mouse wheel over the timeline | Zoom around the pointer |

Close panels, menus, and dialogs
Esc closes the topmost open dialog, dropdown, or menu. In a text or number field, the first Esc leaves the field. Press it again to close the dialog.
