Batch Process Your Footage
Batch Process runs several AI tools over the same set of files in one go, in the right order, without you babysitting each one. Point it at a shoot's worth of footage, check the tools you want, and come back to a single summary when it's done.
Open Batch Process
Open the Process menu and click Batch Process…, the first item in the menu. You can also right-click files in the media bin and choose Batch Process… there. The entry is greyed out only when there's nothing to work on, with the hint Select media or add clips to the timeline first.
Pick files and tools
The dialog has two columns.
Files, on the left. The Selected in Bin / On Timeline toggle picks where the list comes from, starting on Selected in Bin when you have bin files selected and On Timeline otherwise. Bin files start all checked. Timeline mode starts with every file that carries audio or video checked. The header counts your picks, for example Files (7).
Modules, on the right. One checkbox row per tool, in the same order as the Process menu, and all unchecked to start. Checking a tool reveals its own settings inline right under it, the same controls as its standalone dialog, for example Detect Motion's Motion Type.
A tool that can't run on your current file picks is greyed out with the reason next to its name, for example Missing audio on selection, Requires transcript, or Sync needs 2+ items. A tool that fits only some of the files shows a note like — 3 of 7 files. That's fine: the batch feeds each tool only the files it can handle, so one incompatible file never blocks the rest.
When at least one tool and one file are checked, the button at the bottom reads Run N modules. Click it to start.
The order is worked out for you
There's no order to arrange. The batch knows which tools depend on another tool's output and waits for the prerequisite to actually finish before starting the dependent one. For example, Find Characters runs after Face Tracking, Umm Removal runs after Transcribe, and Rough Cut runs after Retakes and Umm Removal.
Watch it run
The dialog closes as soon as you click Run. Each tool then appears as its own entry in the status bar and Background Tasks popover as its turn comes, exactly like a solo run. See Run an AI Tool.
When every step has finished, one summary notification wraps up the batch:
- All good: Batch complete: Transcribe · Retakes · Rough Cut.
- Mixed: Batch complete: 2 of 3 succeeded, 1 failed, with an expandable list showing a checkmark or an X per tool and the reason for each failure.
If the batch can't even start, you get Batch submission failed: with the reason.
Where your project stands afterwards
A batch run doesn't open any apply dialogs. Analysis tools like Transcribe, Face Tracking, and Detect Motion leave the timeline untouched, and their results land where they always do: media bin badges, the Module Results popover, the transcript panel, and the cut dialogs they unlock.
Rough Cut leaves its results ready and points you to the next step instead of cutting. It finishes a batch with the notification Rough Cut scores ready — Process → Apply Rough Cut…, and you apply the cuts on your own terms from there. See Build a Rough Cut.
