0.4.1

0.4.1 was released on 2026-08-27. It covers everything shipped since 0.4.0.

Highlights

  • Export a finished video or audio file. File > Export > Media… renders the whole timeline to MP4, MP3, or WAV, with progress and cancel in Background Tasks. This first version covers cuts, gaps, fades, and volume; clip transforms and effects are not included yet.
  • Audio fades at cuts are optional and off by default. Tick "Add audio fades at cuts" in a cutting dialog when you want splices in speech softened.
  • Rough Cut can apply the same cuts to extra tracks. Clip > Apply Rough Cut… now has an "Apply to tracks" card. Add a music bed or screen recording and it receives the same cut regions, in sync.
  • Retake Review lets you correct bad groups. Mark a whole group "Not a retake" or pull a single take out of its group. Corrections save with the project, and every action that cuts retakes respects them.
  • Sync can analyze without changing the timeline. Turn off "Place clips on timeline after analysis", then place the clips whenever you are ready with Sequence > Place Synced Media on Timeline.
  • The AI assistant can run scripts and delegate work. It can write a script, show you the code, and run it under the approval mode you chose. It can also start AI tools for you, hand a task to a helper agent, capture the program monitor, and render a short clip excerpt.
  • Use your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription. Preferences > Agent > "Use your own AI subscription" runs assistant turns on a detected Claude Code or Codex CLI plan instead of per-use API billing.
  • Report a problem from inside Solar Sailer. Help > Report a Problem…, or the Report… button that now appears on error messages.

Fixes and improvements

  • Scrubbing 59.94 fps footage no longer shows stale or black frames at some playhead positions.
  • Save As… starts in the project folder with the current filename filled in, and repeated presses no longer stack extra file pickers.
  • Markers show their name and note in a hover card. Point markers no longer print titles below the timeline, while range markers keep the title inside the range.
  • The assistant answers media questions with real file sizes and codecs and no longer shows "Checkpoint expired" on turns that only read.
  • Small polish across dialogs, track lists, tooltips, and Background Tasks.
