Install and Launch

Install Solar Sailer on Windows, start it for the first time, and keep it up to date.

Install Solar Sailer

Solar Sailer runs on 64-bit Windows. The installer is named SolarSailer-Setup-<version>.exe.

  1. Double-click the installer.
  2. Follow the installer. You can change the install folder if needed.

Solar Sailer installs for your Windows account, so you don't need admin access. The installer is signed by Proko LLC and includes all required software.

Launch the app

Start Solar Sailer from the Windows Start menu. The first launch after installing or updating can take a few minutes while Windows scans the new files. Keep the splash window open. Later launches are faster.

When startup finishes, you land on the welcome screen. From there you create or open a project. See Create Your First Project.

If a launch does nothing, or you get an error box titled Solar Sailer is already running, a previous session is stuck in the background. See Troubleshooting.

Keep the app up to date

Solar Sailer checks for updates shortly after launch. When one is available, the Help menu shows Download Update with the new version number.

  1. Open the Help menu and click Download Update.
  2. When the download finishes, click Install. Solar Sailer closes, installs the update, and reopens.

If you click Later, the downloaded update installs the next time you quit Solar Sailer. Until then, the Help menu offers Restart to Install.

To check at any time, open the Help menu and click Check for Updates. Run the check again to retry after a failed check or download.
