Markers

Markers save a moment or a span of time on the timeline. Use them for places you want to review, fix, or find again.

Add a point marker

  1. Move the playhead to the frame you want to mark.
  2. Press M, or click Add Marker (M) in the tools strip.

If that frame already has a marker, pressing M does not add a duplicate.

To mark a frame without moving the playhead, right-click an empty spot in the timeline ruler and choose Add Marker.

Add a range marker

  1. Right-click the timeline ruler where the range should begin.
  2. Choose Add Range Marker.
  3. Set the range's start and end times.

You can also turn a point marker into a range. Drag either edge of the point marker away from its starting frame, or add an End time in the marker editor.

Edit a marker

  1. Double-click the marker, or right-click it and choose Edit Marker….
  2. Change its name, note, or timing. Start and End accept a timecode or frame number.
  3. Press Enter or leave the field to apply the change.

There is no save button. Each field change is a separate undo step.

info

Clearing a range marker's End converts it to a point marker and deletes its note. Undo restores the range and its note.

Move or resize a marker

  1. Drag a point marker or its vertical line to move it.
  2. For a range marker, drag the middle to move the whole range. Drag either edge to change its length.

Press Escape during a drag to cancel it.

Jump between markers

Press Shift+M to jump to the next marker. Press Ctrl+Shift+M to jump to the previous marker. Range markers use their start time.

You can also open the Markers tab in the Properties panel and click a marker to jump to it.

Manage and delete markers

The Markers tab lists markers in timeline order. Double-click a marker's name or note to edit it there.

To delete one marker, right-click it on the timeline and choose Delete Marker, or click its delete button in the Markers tab. Solar Sailer deletes it without confirmation. Undo brings it back.

To delete markers in bulk:

  1. Open the Markers tab.
  2. Click Clear All to delete every marker, or open the arrow beside it and choose Clear All AI Markers.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Each bulk deletion is one undo step.

info

When snapping is on, clips you drag or trim snap to markers. Markers do not snap while you move them. See moving and trimming clips.
